March 2024: Women, Artisans, Role Models
As we embrace the dual significance of Women’s Month and Artisan Day, we at Creamos are proud to spotlight Sara’s remarkable journey.
Fueled by her daughter’s simple yet heartfelt words “I don’t want new releases, I want books. Buy me books”, Sara’s mornings begin at 4 am, ignited by the drive to be the author of her future. Juggling her roles as a student at Creamos, an artisan at Mi Eelo, and a mother of five, Sara steps into Creamos with a newfound sense of purpose and determination. Initially nervous about embarking on a new journey; a change she believed wouldn’t bring a smile to her face, Sara now finds support, unity and solidarity in her everyday life at Mi Eelo.
As Sara stepped through Creamos’ doors for the first time, the phrase "Give yourself a chance" resonated in her mind. Sara’s journey at Creamos initially started as a way to confront personal challenges and secure an income for herself, but it has since undergone a remarkable transformation. Today, she pursues her studies and job with a newfound purpose: to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse.
With each product she creates, Sara takes pride in knowing that her craftsmanship reaches far beyond her community’s borders, inspiring her to push the boundaries of innovation even further. Beyond her craft, Sara holds a deep reverence for her cultural heritage, intertwining tradition with modernity in every piece she creates.
As we sit together on the 8th of March, Sara teaches us that women’s power is defined by our ability to achieve and harness our capabilities and skills to overcome any obstacle. There are few limits to what we can accomplish when we set our minds to it. Sometimes, we doubt ourselves, but it’s in those moments that the support of our community reminds us of our potential.
This and every month, we embrace Sara’s dreams, courage and bravery and celebrate the countless untold narratives of women breaking barriers.
