June brings two moments that, at first glance, might seem distinct — Father's Day and Pride Month. But at Creamos, they point toward the same question: what does it look like to build a world where everyone belongs, and everyone can grow?
This month, we celebrate fathers and male figures who are doing the quiet, courageous work of transforming their lives through education and employment to create more stable, dignified futures for their families. What moves us most is what they are modeling for the next generation. At Creamos, we believe the eradication of gender-based violence requires men who demonstrate, in their daily lives, what healthy masculinity looks like — who show their children that strength means showing up with care, humility, and respect. To every father in the community, in our network of supporters, and beyond who is choosing growth, choosing equity, and choosing to be present: we see you, and we celebrate you.
June is also Pride Month — a time to reaffirm that inclusion is not a gesture but a commitment. In Guatemala, discrimination and exclusion continue to shape the daily realities of many LGBTQI+ individuals, creating real barriers to learning, employment, and belonging. Although only a small minority of Creamos participants identify as part of the LGBTQI+ community, each person represents someone looking for opportunities to build a better future. This requires internal work to create a welcoming environment at Creamos, as well as external work to change the structures that keep people excluded.
This month, we reaffirm our commitment to being a space where all people are not only accepted but embraced — regardless of who they are or whom they love. Thanks for standing with us. The Creamos Team |

Please join us for a mindful moment |
Think of someone in your life — a father, a caregiver, a friend — who surprised you with their capacity for growth or tenderness.
What did it take for them to show up that way? Breathe in with gratitude for the people who challenge themselves to become more. Breathe out with a hope that all people have the space to grow, to belong, and to be loved exactly as they are. | |

Healthy Environments, Healthier Communities |
This month, Creamos marked World Environment Day with a community activity rooted in a truth we live every day: environmental justice and human well-being are inseparable. The activity was a moment to reflect on that connection together — and to reaffirm that building healthier futures requires a holistic approach, one that honors the dignity of both people and ecosystems. |

Emotional Support: Healthy Aging is Booming! |
Our Healthy Aging group brings together women 50 and older each week for gentle movement, shared conversation, and psychoeducational support — a consistent, safe space during a stage of life often marked by isolation. What started with just three women has grown to 25 and keeps growing. We are continually inspired by the relationships and community that become possible when there is safety, trust, and consistency. |

Workforce Development:
Four New Cohorts in Motion |
June is a full month in the Workforce Development Program. This month, 61 new participants have begun training four vocational training cohorts: two new Barista cohorts, one Culinary cohort, one Customer Service cohort, and one Digital Literacy cohort. These participants are building the necessary technical and socioemotional skills to make the transition to formal work.
“The barista course and my internship have been wonderful experiences. I’ve met amazing people, learned so much about coffee and its fascinating history, and discovered things I never knew before, like the different flavors and types of coffee. I truly love coffee—I’ve been in love with it since I was little—and now I can imagine myself working in a café, doing what I love every day.” - Dailyn, Creamos Barista |
If you’d like to pass along a message of motivation, send us a reply and we’ll post it on the bulletin board for participants to see! |

After years of need, we are thrilled that construction of a new reception area is officially underway! This dedicated space will allow our operations staff to welcome participants as they arrive and ensure their comfort and safety while they await their programming. It’s a small but meaningful change that will improve the daily experience of everyone who walks through our doors. |
And this is just the beginning. We are also launching a larger visioning process to dream about the future of Creamos’s space. Through qualitative interviews and focus groups with the team, we’re gathering input to shape what this place becomes. Stay tuned to see the final product! |

At the end of this month, we say a warm goodbye to Sebastián Villegas, who has spent the past year with Creamos as an intern through our partnership with CECI (Canadian Centre for International Studies and Cooperation). |
Sebastián joined the Impact Management team and took on a deeply important task: leading the implementation of Creamos's Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) system. Sebastián worked to create a sustainable structure that the team can continue to use and grow long after his time here. He invested in both building the capacity of the Impact Management team and the program teams, who are the frontline collectors of data that help us understand and communicate our impact. |

Thank you, Sebastián, for your dedication, rigor, and commitment to this mission. We wish you all the best in what comes next! |

Last week, we released our 2025 Annual Report, showcasing all that we accomplished together last year. If you haven't had a chance to read it yet, we'd love for you to take a look. |
